ABOUT ANG MO KIO
Ang Mo Kio literally means “red-haired man’s bridge” in Hokkien, where ang mo is a common word for a Caucasian person. The name alludes to the nearby Kallang River bridge, which was erected by Johnson Turnball Thomson, Government Surveyor of the Straits Settlement from 1841 to 1853.
The residential town of Ang Mo Kio is located in Singapore’s northeast. Ang Mo Kio is the third-most populous planning area in the North-East Region and ranks eighth in terms of population in the entire country. It is situated around 11 kilometers north of the City center.
